Privacy Policy
Last updated: 18 October 2026
Thensday is published by ELAQ Limited ("we"). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the Thensday app for iPhone, its share extension, its widgets and its Apple Watch app.
The short version
- There is no account. You never sign up or sign in.
- There is no Thensday server. Everything you save stays on your iPhone, unless you turn on Ask's optional Apple Private Cloud Compute answers, or share things with your Household through your own iCloud (both below).
- We don't use analytics, advertising or tracking tools of any kind.
- We don't collect, see, sell or share your data, because we never receive it.
What stays on your iPhone
When you share something into Thensday, the app stores it in its own private storage on your device. That includes the link, any text or caption you shared, screenshots you chose, a small preview image, the details the app picks out (such as a place, a dish, a price or a person's name), the "why" and "when" you picked, and what you later did with it (Done, Let go, Not yet, and an optional rating).
Your settings, such as the times your moments fire, are stored on your device too.
All reading of text and screenshots (including text recognition and on-device intelligence on supported iPhones) happens on your iPhone. Nothing is uploaded for processing.
Videos you share are read on your iPhone and then deleted; we never upload them. When you share or pick a video, Thensday reads its on-screen text and what is said in it (speech recognition runs on your iPhone only), keeps what it found, a small preview and up to four small stills, and deletes the video itself as soon as the read finishes, or after 24 hours if it could not run.
Voice notes you record on your iPhone or Apple Watch, or say to Siri, are turned into text on your iPhone. A recording from your watch travels only to your own paired iPhone, over Apple's connection between the two, and is never uploaded. Thensday keeps a recording, so you can play it back, until you mark that save Done or let it go; turn off Settings › "Keep voice recordings" and it is deleted as soon as its text exists.
Things to remember (such as "Leo's shoe size 32") are saves like any other: kept on your iPhone, found by Ask and by your iPhone's own search (Spotlight), which also runs on your iPhone.
Listen (meeting recordings)
Listen is off until you turn it on, and starts only when you tap to start one. While it's recording, Thensday shows a clear on-screen indicator the whole time, on your iPhone and on your Apple Watch. Listen can pick up anyone speaking nearby, not only you, so it's your responsibility to let the people you're with know you're recording and to have whatever consent the law where you are, and good manners, call for.
Everything happens on your iPhone: the recording, turning it into text (on-device speech recognition), and the notes and action items it builds from that text. None of it is uploaded anywhere, including to us. A Listen you record on your Apple Watch is sent only to your own paired iPhone for this, the same way a voice note is. The audio is kept so you can play it back; turn off Settings › "Keep Listen audio" (or choose a shorter retention) to have it deleted sooner. Deleting a Listen's save deletes its audio and text.
Your day (Health)
If you turn on Settings › "Your day", Thensday reads your workouts, sleep and heart rate from Health, so it can show what you saved alongside them and mention them when you ask. This is off by default, read-only — Thensday never writes anything to Health or asks to — and the values it reads are never stored by the app or sent anywhere; they're read fresh each time and used only on your iPhone.
Sharing with your Household (iCloud)
If you create a Household and invite people, the things you put in it (shared to-dos, who they are for, when they're due, who did them, and the shared shopping list) are stored in your own iCloud account, using Apple's CloudKit sharing, and shared only with the people you invite through Apple's share sheet. Each of them uses their own Apple Account. Nothing is shared unless you create it in the Household or move it there; your other saves stay private on your iPhone. This goes through Apple's iCloud, under Apple's terms, and never through us: we can't see or read any of it. You can stop sharing, or remove someone, at any time, and leaving a Household removes its items from your iPhone.
At the shop (location)
If you turn on "Remind me when I'm at a grocery store", you pick your usual stores, and your iPhone (not Thensday) watches for arriving at one of them, so it can show your shopping list there. The stores you pick and your location never leave your iPhone; Thensday doesn't record where you've been. Without this permission the list still reminds you at your usual shop time, and the Shortcuts automation still works.
If you delete the app, everything it stored is deleted with it. Your device backups (iCloud or computer) may include the app's data, under Apple's terms and your own backup settings.
When the app goes online
Thensday connects to the internet only for links you share: the app asks that website (or its public preview service) for the page title, description and preview image, so your save looks right, and reads the page's public video as described below. This request goes straight from your iPhone to that website. It is not routed through us and we never see it. As with visiting any website, that site can see the usual request information, such as your IP address.
Links you share are opened on your iPhone the way a browser would. If the page publicly serves a video, Thensday reads it on your iPhone and deletes it when the read finishes; for YouTube it reads the public captions instead. The page is opened without cookies, a login or any account details, and only once. Nothing is uploaded, re-hosted or redistributed, and the save always links back to the original. You can turn this off in Settings › "Read videos from links on this iPhone".
Ask Thensday answers on your iPhone. Only if you turn on Settings › "Bigger answers with Apple Private Cloud Compute", and only when a question needs more of your saves than fit on the iPhone, that question and the matching saves' titles and short excerpts are sent to Apple's Private Cloud Compute to be answered. Apple's Private Cloud Compute does not keep or let anyone see what is sent, and it never comes to us. It is off by default.
Permissions
Thensday asks only when you use a feature that needs it:
- Notifications, when you first pick a when, so we can remind you at that moment.
- Reminders, only when you export a list to Reminders, or choose a shared Reminders list to mirror the Household's shopping list to (so family members without Thensday can use it; that list is shared by Reminders and iCloud, under Apple's terms).
- Location, only if you ask to be reminded when you're at one of your usual stores. It is used on your iPhone only and never sent anywhere.
- iCloud, only when you create or join a Household; it uses the Apple Account already on your iPhone.
- Calendar, only if you ask for a free-time nudge, or use Listen near a meeting: Thensday reads your events so it can find a free half hour, nudge you a minute before a meeting starts, and show Listen who it's probably with. Your calendar never leaves your iPhone. Adding something to your calendar instead uses Apple's own editor, which doesn't need this access.
- Contacts use Apple's own editor, which doesn't need access to your existing contacts.
- Photos: screenshot import and "Add the video" use Apple's photo picker, so the app only sees the images and videos you choose.
- Speech recognition, the first time a video you shared has sound, you record a voice note, or you start a Listen, so the app can understand what is said. It runs on your iPhone only.
- Microphone, the first time you tap the mic to record a thought or start a Listen, on your iPhone or your Apple Watch.
- Health, only if you turn on "Your day": Thensday reads your workouts, sleep and heart rate, on your iPhone only, and never writes to Health. See "Your day (Health)" above.
You can change any of these in the Settings app at any time.
Purchases
Subscriptions and the one-time Lifetime purchase are handled by Apple. We don't receive your name, email or payment details. The app only learns whether Thensday Pro is active on your Apple Account.
Children
Thensday is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal data from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and the copy bundled in the app. We will never start collecting your data without asking you first.
